Uganda, located on the equator, is bordered to the east by Kenya, South Tanzania and Rwanda and the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo and North-South Sudan. Despite the tiny country's smaller size, Uganda boasts diverse landscapes, including snow-capped mountains, savannahs, lush swampland, and impenetrable forests. Its pristine parks are home to a rich variety of wildlife, including the renowned East African big game species such as lions, elephants, and buffaloes, as well as primates and over a thousand species of birds.
Uganda and neighbouring countries share the unique responsibility of conserving a population of critically endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, supported mainly by the trekking fees charged to visiting guests.
Upon arrival at Entebbe airport in the capital city of Kampala, visitors can embark on a comprehensive safari that covers the finest aspects of the diverse National parks or participate in a brief excursion to the southeast for gorilla trekking.
